Back in October 2009, one of the lenses popped out of my classes. Mike and my in-laws tried in vain to repair them, but wound up pretty much disassembling them entirely. I finally remembered to take them to a LensCrafters here (19 months later) and got them repaired. Apparently, the lenses were too big for the frames. They fixed them for free, which amazed me. I wanted to provide them further business, but they don't take our vision insurance. Ah, well.

Ever since then, I've taken to wearing my glasses most of the time. I'd done the same thing in Phoenix before the lens popped out. My contact lenses keep getting cloudy, even if I switch to a new pair. On Monday, during the middle of all the stuff I did for WWDC, my right lens pretty much dried out completely. In a fit of frustration, I switched back to my glasses and haven't gone back since.

It's strange. I've been wearing glasses since I was seven. My first pair was really cute and had a small Smurfette on the side. But as I got older and my eyesight got worse, my glasses turned into Coke bottles and took up nearly half my face. I hated them. I got contacts at age 13 because the lenses were weighing down my face. I didn't get another pair of glasses until 2004, but rarely used them. Finally, I got these in 2009 and love them. Now that the technology and lens styles are so much better, I'm finding I'm preferring to wear glasses over contacts for the first time in 17 years.

I wore my glasses to work, and everyone has been complementing me on the look. I got the spousal seal of approval when Mike said he liked me wearing them and said, "you look cute." Overall, I'm just liking the experience more at the moment. My eyes don't feel anywhere near as fatigued as they were when I was wearing contacts full time, and I'm no longer dealing with the dry eyes. I'll probably wind up doing half-and-half glasses and contacts. They're still great for things such as exercising and travel. I just need to get a pair of those clip-on frames for when I'm out in the sun.
