Impressions of Maine

It's cold up here.
And there's SNOW!
Honest to goodness SNOW! With accumulation even!
Words can not convey the shock that I feel right now.
Yes, I arrived in Lewiston safely and a day earlier than expected. Much to my surprise and joy, someone has a wireless network close enough to me that I can tap into it until my Internet is installed on the 13th. Thank goodness for small favors.
Dad and I got a futon and an entertainment center and he put those together for me. I also bought a pair of snow boots. Those things are very hard to walk in, but I do need them judging by the slipping and sliding I've already done outside of the apartment.
The cats were very resilent. They were extremely well-behaved on the trip up here and barely made a peep. Kirara "talked" to us some on Sunday and Peekaboo did Monday morning. When we got here, Lil'Bit and Kirara kept jamming themselves underneath the recliner and we had to pry them out. Finally, when the futon was ready, I simply shoved them under there. A few hours later, they came out and all three are now exploring. Peekaboo had no problem at all and was immediately lord of the manor.
We drove 12 hours on Sunday and finished the drive in about four hours on Monday. It was very nice and Daddy and I had great bonding time. I never touched the audiobooks and barely even touched the Nintendo DS. It was amazing how talking made the time fly by. Pennsylvania was a gorgeous state. People drive like idiots. Gas prices aren't that much higher than in Johnson City. I learned a lot about my family.
The apartment is still really nice. Though I did discover that I only have a connection for a washer - not a dryer. Oh, and I have no dishwasher or garbage disposal. The dishwasher I could live without, but geez, I'd gotten used to disposals!
We have already discovered Wal-Mart and K-Mart, though I am leaving the bulk of my grocery purchases to later today so I can see what the little local markets are like. There's one just around the corner from my apartment. I also need to dig out my camera and start taking pictures. Daddy and I are also going out to eat with my new boss tomorrow.
So, I did arrive here safely. We're all happy and well and I can't wait to begin my new job on Thursday. Even when I left Selma, I had missed it despite how bad it was for me. I don't miss Bristol at all.
