Endorsements

I got to handle our paper's endorsement for president today. I can not say who we endorsed, but it was an interesting job to get the editorial page out. I had to be real careful about what I did - including making sure to minimize the page so no one could catch a glimpse of the headline. Then, I had to run it through Steve, and now the page is being proofed by the chief copy editor. After the corrections are made and I send the page to film, I'm destroying all of our proofs of that page. It's pretty cool to be one of five people at the paper who knows who we endorsed, but man, it's hard work trying to make sure it doesn't get any further than us five (the editor, the publisher, the general manager, the chief copy editor and me.) I can't even tell Jeff, and the editor isn't telling his wife.
Just another part of the democratic process.
