Anniversary

Today marks my one-year anniversary in Bristol. It doesn't feel like I've been here a year. A lot has happened, and I've realized my goal - to become a better journalist. I got side benefits to that as well!
ely_chan and
kitesareevil, I need to talk with you both eventually. It won't be today perhaps. It won't be tomorrow, most likely. But, soon, my dears. Very soon.
Now, some ramblings:
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Granted, I didn't think this as funny as episode 128, and I think it's because I am watching it raw. Once I figure out what they're actually saying, I'll get more out of it. But still...
- BUYO. Kagome's scene with him in the beginning as she's musing over the Inuyasha/Kikyo situation is hilarious and extremely accurate if you are a cat owner. I frequently dump my cats on the floor in the manner she did.
- MAMA. Did anyone else who saw the raw noticed that Inuyasha called Kagome's mother, "Mama?" Oh, he sounded so sweet doing that! She became his personal cheerleader in trying to fix the bike as well.
- SOUTA. I nearly died when he was trying to wrestle Tessaiga away from Inuyasha so he wouldn't accidentally wipe out half of Tokyo in an effort to produce diamonds to pay for Kagome's bike.
- INUYASHA. He was too sweet in this episode. His panic over restoring the bike is priceless, along with the battle music that was played when trying to fix it. He was so eager to work in order to make Kagome happy. We love the squish! I also loved the scene where he grabs Souta, then holds him. That was nice.
- KAGOME. Trust me, I've been in her situation. To me, this chapter marked when she emerged from her PMS state in the manga and returned to normal. She's a bit older and wiser, though, and it shows in subsequent actions.
- THE TRIO OF DOOM (aka Kagome's friends). They came off as expected. I loved the line they tossed in at the end about Houjo-kun. I think what they said is that the sandwich doesn't have a chance now. Poor sandwich. Don't worry, the fans will pair you with Ayumi and you will be happy.
Oh wow, this series is FANTASTIC. I'd seen the OVA a few months ago and fell in love with it, then picked up the soundtrack to it on Saturday. It is awesome! Then, I finally watched a friend's copy of the first disc of R.O.D. the TV. It's great! I'm definitely going to get my own copy.
I am such a Yomiko that it's scary. So, I was able to identify with the Paper Sisters as well, except for Anita, who hates books. But, Anita is still a neat character because of this. Out of the paper sisters, Michelle and Anita are my favorites. Maggie's okay, but I ignore her a lot. Oh, and Nenene is great - especially since she's played by the awesome Satsuki Yukino (Kagome in Inuyasha).
As for stuff in my life, Jeff decided not to go to Orlando. They froze the position and said they would contact him in a month or so. He said no thanks. So, it looks like our lives will definitely carry us out to Denver some time in the next couple of years.
We had a good weekend together. He took me up and showed me the TVA dam and it's gorgeous. We talked a lot about the future and it was nice. Then, the best part was just spending time together. I got him to let me play NCAA Football 2005 on the PS2. I got more yards rushing than he did on the first game! I am addicted now.
To me, that's what a relationship is about. It's not just the sparkles and fireworks, but having fun together and being friends. Just spending an evening playing video games was nice.
