Okay, okay, so it's been a week since I've posted. And since I promised my friend, SMan, that I would keep a good journal this week so I can let him know what happened when he comes back from California, I better get started.

[livejournal.com profile] akai_kitsune, you'll be happy to know that I got Kingdom Hearts as a gift on Saturday. I got that and Xenosaga, but Kingdom Hearts will be the first one I play. Provided that I ever finish FFX. I swear, how many times does Seymour come back to life? Sheesh! I think SquareSoft modeled him after Naraku in this instance - the other villian I know of that no matter how many times you think you've done away with him, he manages to escape. I'm now up to where they're entering Zanarkin, so I hope that things will come to a head soon. As soon as I beat Seymour reincarnation #2039 that is. -_-

Also, for Akai-san and [livejournal.com profile] calger459, I got the Rurouni Kenshin series two figurines. I saw all five of them at GameStop and immediately snatched Battousai and Hiko-sama. Then I thought Shishio looked cool and grabbed him. Then I got Soujiro and Aoshi as well. I think I annoyed the lady behind me in line because I kept ducking in and out of line to snatch them up one by one. The deciding factor for getting all of them at once was the fiasco that happened with the series one figurines (Kenshin, Kaoru, Yahiko, Sano and Saitou.) I saw them all, went across the mall to check my bank balance, came back to get them and they were GONE. I was furious! I have yet to find them again. Grr....

Last night, I took them out of the packaging and finally found a place where the cats couldn't get at them - on the entertainment center on the empty shelf above the DVD player and VCR. It was funny because Hiko is taller than the other figurines and I had to lower the shelf to accomodate him. Still the figurines look really nice up there and they don't look out of place either. I think it's because they're based on manga art and I do have manga art of Kenshin up on the walls.

The majority of the weekend was spent dealing with the Outcast War in Dragonrealms. There were several times that I felt like hitting my head against something hard (that's when I picked up FFX and played.) I feared that because I stayed up so late last night that I wouldn't get to work at a decent time today, but lo and behold, I did!

The big news of last week is that I joined the staff of Animeondvd.com. That happened last Monday. The site is launching a manga version of the site and I will be one of the staff reviewers. I have been reviewing manga for the AOD forums since October and I'm really excited about doing this. The site is still in the preview stage and a lot needs to be done for it - including me getting off my butt and doing my backlog! Fortunately, I managed to cut a lot of it down last week with reviews of "B.B. Revolution" vol. 1, "Alice 19th" vol. 3, "Fruits Basket" vol. 2 and "Rurouni Kenshin" vol. 4. Now I need to do "Maison Ikkoku" 2-4 (vol. 2 is read, just need to skim it over again for summary purposes and finish the review), Inuyasha 3-8, 13-16 and Oh! My Goddess 3-17. Tall order, eh? I might whip out something real quick tonight with the "Adventures of the Mini Goddess" book since it isn't that long.

And now, finally, one more thing. I've been dropping the name of co-workers without really letting people know who they are or what they do in the newsroom. Now, to make the confusion easier, here is...

Me - A features writer/designer who is very cheerful, very stubborn and is eyeing a way to buy a second set of Kenshin figurines because she decided her monitor needs dressing up.

Jan - Features editor and my supervisor. She rules the roost here.

Jen - Features writer/designer, like me. She tends to be the one who is the most organized and who can actually get her work done before deadline is in sight.

Joe - Features writer. He's the one voted most likely to drive you up the wall, but he is really a sweetheart. He is very positive and really does have the art of constructive criticism down...in his own way. However, there are some who can't take his energy such as...

Susan - Metro editor. Dislikes noise and interuppting of her routine. Doesn't care for Joe. Keeps telling me to lower my voice.

Lee - Assistant metro editor. Pretty much the same as Susan, but goes outside to smoke every five mintues. Seriously. He is currently feuding with Joe.

Steve - Editor. The head honcho over all of us. He's a really nice guy who is demanding, yet fair.

Andrea - Editorial page editor. She's really nice and is expecting her third child.

Earl - My partner in crime - aka, the photographer I do most of my stories with. He's really sweet and has yet to grow up. That makes working with him a lot of fun.

Andre and David C. - The other two photographers.

Dave, Matt, Rick and Diette - Metro reporters.

Bill - The Internet/photo guy who sits next to me. He is...let's just say the world is going to Hell in a handbasket according to him.

Davy, Brian, Keith and Jerry - Copy editors.

Jim - Publisher of the Herald Courier and an Auburn graduate. We're pals until the week of the Iron Bowl. Then war is waged.
