Dear Megan,
This is Real Life writing. I am here to remind you that no matter how idealistically you plan your budget, I will ALWAYS intrude...
Yes, I got my nice, fat income tax refund on Friday. I sat down Saturday morning and neatly planned what I was going to do with it. $400 was going to go for a down payment on getting my financial problems solved. $100 went to get a new recorder for work, which I desperately needed. It's a digital recorder that allows me to upload my files to the computer, cutting down my transcribing time by half. The final money? Well...a little guilty pleasure. I got seasons three and four of "Babylon 5" on DVD on Saturday. My first BIG DVD purchase well...since getting "Inuyasha" for Christmas.
This morning, I woke up, popped in my contacts and headed to work. I noticed that they were VERY uncomfortable. I looked in the mirror and saw red snaking across my eyes. I immediately ran to the eye doctor, where I discovered I was LONG overdue for new contact lenses. Overdue by say...two and a half years? ::ducks:: I had gotten glasses back in October, but they had wanted me to wait a bit for the redness in my eyes to go down before getting contacts. So I wore my glasses for a month and then went back to contacts. However, since these were the contacts that caused my eye problems in the first place, no wonder they were giving me fits now!
So, $130 later (I got two sets of eye drops as well) I now have brand new, fresh contacts. I can tell my eyes are already a lot happier. My budget though? Yeah...it's not very happy right now. Oh well. I suppose that's life.
