"I look at all the lonely people"

I have been on a major Beatles kick lately. I have no idea why. I was never really interested in them until I began reading all of the coverage of their 40th anniversary on the Ed Sullivan Show. I picked up their "1's" disc on Saturday (yay for CDs being $9 now!) and have been listening to it non-stop ever since. I'd heard their songs on the radio over the years and I can't believe I've spent this many years without truly listening to them.
I religiously read the Poynter Institute, probably the premier journalism resource there is out there. My favorite columnist is Chip Scanlan, who is full of awesome writing tips. His column for today is about writer's block. I think it is worthy of reading no matter if you're a journalist or write fanfic. He pretty much nailed the reasons why I have so much unfinished fanfic languishing on my harddrive. It's also nice to know that I'm not alone.
shamaneyes asked me a couple weeks ago what my Muse looks like. I never really thought about it and it's taken me awhile for me to come up with an answer. I know I have a guardian, but he is most certainly NOT my muse. I don't think I can put a face to my Muse, but I always associate blank journals and fountain pens with it. For some reason, being around all of that clean, white paper and pens with rich, flowing ink make my fingers itch and I want to write. I'm going to have to work at this a bit harder. To be honest, my muse should be a little pixy sitting on my shoulder going, "Write! Write! Write!" So, Mack, I haven't forgotten to answer you. I'm just still working on it.
