Halloween snow
The medical exam is over, less than two weeks to the visa interview. Ironically enough, I have the day before and the day of the interview off, so I've been trying to see if I can find a very cheap last-minute flight to London. Hahaha, not happening. Mike was hoping to take his netbook in with photo albums, our wedding video, etc., but electronics aren't allowed inside, so I suggested he put together a little album with pictures and the like. There's a little runaround as he needs to get a flu jab and the GP in London wanted to know more about the heart surgery he had right before the wedding, but otherwise they said he was medically sound and there should be little to impede the immigration process.
I'm trying to remember that this is the last week of October. We're expecting our first snow tomorrow. It's not that I'm shocked about the snow considering it is nearly November and the fact that yes, I live in Pennsylvania where we do get quite a bit of snow, but the fact that it's nearly November. I'm trying to figure out where the rest of the year went. Municipal elections are in less than two weeks, and I get to do inside news pages then, yay. I also need to go out and get new gloves and a hat for when we're stranded outside when the fire alarms go off. It's been way too quiet in the P-N building lately. I suspect the building is waiting for it to plunge below freezing before taking its revenge.
I started outlining for NaNo the other day and got the prologue and the scenes in the first chapter sketched out. The story is going to be extremely good practice as writing a proper mystery, seeing that one of my original comic ideas I'm developing with
secondlina is more mystery-oriented than fantasy. While Namesake does have its mysteries (and there's a reason we maintain a Dorothy murder scorecard), it's still a fantasy first. However, the rest of the brain has promptly been overtaken by finishing "A Merry Chase" (two chapters and an epilogue to go) and a sequel one-shot prompted by
penguinspy42 that had me giggling like mad at work last night. I was hoping to get more on that written, but the World Series turned out to be pretty awesome. I'm rooting for the Cardinals, especially after the way they came back last night. I wound up dipping into my stash of Thornton's hot chocolate, bundling in my warm PJs and dozing off around 2:30 a.m., only to wake up five hours later because the apartment got too cold.
