I learned a lot about love this weekend.

I learned that no matter what no matter what facade a man wears, all that he really wants deep inside is to be loved and not be alone.

I learned that a man will do anything for a woman - and all he wants in return is just to see her smile.

I learned that sometimes, people get stuck in dead-end relationships and it's only when they get out of them that they realize how bleak it actually was. But, that dead-end relationship taught lessons that make you appreciate the present even more.

I learned that relationships, a true, adult relationship, is a very scary thing. Yet, while the relationship is an adult one, you can still act like a child and lie on garage floors and watch Ducktales at 4:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning.

I am learning that being scared is a good thing, because it means it affects me.

The last time I was offered love, I ran away because I was scared.

This time, I'm finally letting down the barriers.

iPod!!!

I got an iPod Sunday.

An IPOD!!!

Oh, and the laptop too.

Jeff and I went to Best Buy and looked over the laptops and at first decided on a Hewlett Packard. But, they were out of stock and so we chose a Toshiba. I really like it. 512 MB DDR RAM, 60 gig harddrive, wireless card built in, DVD/CD-RW drive...it's nicer than my desktop even! We also picked up a cable modem with a router for my apartment so that I could return the modem I was renting to Charter.

So, we go to carry stuff out to my car while waiting for the computer gurus to protect the system against spyware and I asked Jeff to open the trunk since he had my keys. He hesitated and commented that I had a lot of junk in the trunk.

Eh, I thought, when did he look in the trunk? He'd changed the oil in my car earlier, and I remember he said he put an extra quart of oil in it in case I needed it. I said there was enough room and the stuff we got would be safer in there. He popped the trunk and started to open then hesitated.

"Promise me you won't be mad," he said.

Huh? "What did you do?"

"Just promise."

"I promise, I promise. What did you do?" I glanced at the trunk as he opened it, thinking that he'd dug the spare out of the bottom.

He opened the trunk and I saw a 15GB iPod staring back at me.

I nearly passed out. Instead I screamed and gave him a big hug and kiss.

Jeff bought it while I was in the bathroom and looking at the laptops. He said that the thing was mocking him, daring him to buy it. So, he went ahead and bought it, telling the clerk if I was to walk by that they were going to hide it. He was going to give it to me at home, surprising me as I played with the laptop. I said that finding it in the trunk was much better.

I have 535 songs on it now and have only used 1.4 GB of spare. I'm running out of CDs to rip too!!!
