Jan: I love your layout!

Me: Bleh.

Jan asked me to do the layout for the Sunday Community section, but I could not get the photos to work out right at all. I managed to create a pretty neat timeline for the piece (an article on a local historian), but I still feel like I could have done more with it. Jan kept raving about it, however, and bragged to Joe about it on the phone. So, I shrugged it off. I'm still pushing the bounds of what I can do as a creative designer and need to spend more time working on fronts.

However, they might be adding a gardening section on Fridays. Yesterday was the first test. If it becomes a permanent feature, Jan said she was either going to give me the gardening front or the travel front. I really hope she gives me the travel front. To me, there's a lot more design possibilities with it when I'm given a chance.

I got to eat at the Barter II cafe for lunch in Abingdon after an interview. Yum! I also got to see a musical called "Suds." It was hilarious. It's a 60s spoof filled with 60s music. It was very easy to get into. I haven't laughed so hard in awhile.

The other productive thing I've done has been on the fanfic front. I'm writing a short story that merges Rumiko Takahashi's "Fire Tripper" with "Inuyasha." I'm setting it in the same time frame I have "The Twilight Struggle" in, just two years before the events of that fic. It's in pretty rough shape right now. I definitely need to go back and tweak characters, especially Inuyasha. I also haven't read a full translation of "Fire Tripper" yet, and I really need to do so before the fic is finalized. Still, it's pretty neat to write.

I also finished "Maison Ikkoku" vol. 4. Now to write the review for it.

Oh, and my avatar? It's from ushitora_icons. It's absolutely hilarious! And based on the current choices for President, Naraku's starting to sound not bad at all...
