Constructive criticism

I got something rare and wonderful last night - constructive criticism on "For This Dojo's Honor."

The scene I'd actually written between Kenshin and Kaoru played out differently from when I imagined it in my mind (curses for not having pad and pen when I first did it!), but calger459 pointed out what was potentially a huge plothole in the entire fic. I made it too easy for Kaoru to succeed. A lot of what I wrote I based on her having watched Kenshin attack (and narrating some of his fights) during the series and - like Yahiko - she knew the mechanics of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu by seeing it. However, she couldn't defeat it, not at the level she's at right now.

Calger pointed that out to me, but in a very positive manner. She named the good parts about the chapter, then suggested what needed work. That was awesome work and it's rare you get a review like that through FF.net. Thank you again, Calger. ::hugs:: I wasn't offended at all. That was the shinai on the head that I needed. ::grin::
