Birthday and OMGWTF....
I had a very VERY enjoyable birthday yesterday. It actually began Friday night when I opened up a package from
ely_chan and
thelonepig and out sprung a stuffed Kirara doll!! SQUEE!!! I squealed and immediately hugged the little stuffed youkai. Then I hunted down the real Kirara and managed to snap a picture of the two together. Very sweet. I'll post it when I get a chance.
Then I headed to Atlanta yesterday for the Anime on DVD manga gathering. It was a lot of fun and I spent a few hours chatting with good people, eating some of the best Japanese food I've had in a long time and having fun. On my way out, I stopped by Oxford Comics and they had Inuyasha Movie #2: "The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass!" I squeed again and snatched it. Yes, it is a bootleg. No, I don't care. To be frank, this is the only bootleg that I own and the movie is so good that it's worth it. WHEN is is released legitimately here in the United States (2005 or 2006 at the rate Viz is going) I will purchase the legitimate release. Again, it is that good.
Then I headed to Tuscaloosa. During the trip I listened to the Inuyasha CD drama, "The Shichinintai Who Waited in Hell," and got a few good laughs out of it. I figured out what Inuyasha and Bankotsu were doing with the "baka" deal too. They were trying to see who was the bigger idiot. My favorite parts:
( The Shichinintai Who Waited in Hell )
I then got to Tuscaloosa and had a very fun night with Celeste,
caligogreywings,
shamaneyes and a new friend, Laura. Nicky made her VERY excellent pan-fried chicken and I had nice discussions with everyone. Nicky, Laura and I plan to head to Birmingham today. I'm treating Nicky to dinner as a belated birthday present. Celeste got me the remaining volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura that I was missing. Wai!
I also spoke to my family on the phone and got two big shockers. My oldest brother got a 52-inch TV. WOW...I'm going to stop by his house and see it on my way back to Bristol on Monday. Then my dad told me he got a 2004 Jaguar. That was the OMGWTF moment, which is what my brother and I both agreed on. Daddy with a Jaguar...oi ve. Oh well. He's almost 54. He's a big boy now. Still...wow.
