I made the grave error of sleeping not just through one alarm, but BOTH alarms this morning. Therefore, I missed my training on our JazBox upgrade. Therefore, I am now sitting here staring at my computer, feeling like the world’s biggest baka. In addition to this, they are rearranging our desks and carving out new spaces entirely so we can accomodate the TV set that will be built in the newsroom.
I can SO feel a headache coming on.
My weekend wasn’t as productive as last weekend. I wound up spending more time writing on
kitesareevil’s story than I did on mine! She also added some needed information to my education regarding relationships. I sorely need to clean and do laundry, which I will get around to doing tonight. I also signed up to do
missandrony’s new LJ icon tutorial and spent considerable time in Animal Crossing. Little game just sucks you right on in.
I got into a discussion once with a friend at Java J’s and also my other friend Tiffany, online, about how hard it is for single women in their 20s to really find their niche in the world. The talk mainly centered around church and finding a good church home. You’re too old for the college kids, yet when you’re around other married or committed people your age, it’s hard to fit in. Wives and girlfriends, Tiff explained, seem to perceive you as a threat to their new relationships/marriages. You don’t share the same experiences though with college kids anymore.
There’s another recent article on CNN.com, this one, talking about how many people my age simply don’t feel like grown ups. I know that many times I don’t feel like a grown up. A large part of me still feels like a college kid. When I think “grown up,” I think of my parents or even my older brothers. I even look at
ely_chan and
thelonepig and think they’re more grown up than I am because they’re married. Of course, Steffie-chan sat there when I mused about this and promptly bashed some sense into me, but it’s just a weird feeling. It’s like being caught in limbo. I think a large part of it is that it’s beaten into our heads: Life goes in this fashion - school, college, marriage, kids, retirement, death. No one has a guide for what to do between these stages! AAAUUGGGHHH!!!!
