My column is called "In Your Corner." I hope my writing is better than the girl at WJHL who writes a consumer column for them. We run it in the Monday paper because of this whole convergence thing. Jan expressed some concern that once WJHL sees my column, they'll want to move Stephanie Carroll's to the consumer page. Not gonna happen in my book, I hope! I read through one of her works and visibly winced. There's so many openings for libel that it's scary.

So, I wrote about convenience foods such as the microwaveable baked potato (very very good) and Kraft's "It's Pasta Anytime" (tastes like warmed over plastic.) It turned out really well. Now I have to think of another column to write.

I went down to Java J's tonight. It's a great little coffeehouse with this awesome frozen coffee drink called a "Commonwealth Crush" that is wonderful. It has ice cream, crushed Oreos, chocolate and expresso. Yum! I used to love Starbucks, but this place has me spoiled now. Occassionally I like to get something to eat, but the food's pretty expensive. Very good, but expensive.

There was a nice two-man band playing there tonight and I met a trio of ladies who hold a combination Bible study/Mom support group. I brought along several volumes of "Oh! My Goddess!" to read and was all snuggled into a chair when a bunch of college kids (I'm guessing from King College) came in and took up all of the remaining couches and chairs and were so loud about it. One group settled in to play next to me and this one guy kept reaching over me and bumping into my stuff and didn't say a word in apology. How rude!

So, now I'm home. I may go to Johnson City in the morning. I also may go to the anime club meeting tomorrow afternoon in Bristol. I've not had a chance to fully explore Bristol's downtown yet and there's some neat shops down there. There's actual cool-looking antiques instead of yard sale refuge like in a lot of Alabama antique stores - at least the ones in Selma!
