Aoide plays music and more

I finally finished the Slayers fanbook last week and got the hardcover edition up Monday. It's such a huge weight off my shoulders. Now I can focus on catching up on other projects, such as completing a commissioned pair of socks and doing a bit more freelance work before I leave for Toronto next week.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we decided I could get an iPad 2 for my work since it turned out that I needed it a lot more than I thought I would. I adopted a returned iPad from Best Buy today and named it Aoide, one of the original Greek muses. She was the muse of song. I seem to be the one who adopts leftover electronics, but they've all been very good. Like the Nintendo 3DS, the iPad 2 looks like it hasn't been touched. I think someone got it, had buyer's remorse, and took it right back. I do like the new Smart Covers for them. I've already put the iPad to work, reviewing a couple of apps and writing articles so it pays for itself.
I am noticing I'm using it a lot differently than I was, and I think I'm actually using it the way that Steve Jobs intended -- as a media consumption device rather than trying to do all my work on it. I'm testing programs for reviews, and I have it propped up here on the side table playing music while I write on the MacBook Air. But, it looks like this is the last piece of tech we're getting until Mike gets here and we get his computer and cellphone. I'm completely outfitted for my job at least.
Now, I'm getting ready for FanExpo Canada next week. I can hardly believe it's nearly here! I get to see Isa, Jo and Stu, along with meeting some awesome people for the first time. I really, really hope Namesake is successful there. Thanks to my boss being awesome, I have Tuesday and Wednesday off, then I'll get up really early on Thursday and make the drive. I'll be bringing a good bit of the Namesake stuff which me, and I hope I won't have any issues crossing the border.
I'm through the second dungeon in Ocarina of Time, and now I'm running around doing side-quests and some games before proceeding to the third dungeon.
I'll be out of town when Doctor Who airs next week! Thankfully, I'll be so busy that the urge to spoil myself silly should be pretty squashed. And, because there's no Wi-Fi at the convention center and I can't use my 3G data in Canada, Mike can't taunt me! Mwhahaha.
