Music meme

I took this meme from [livejournal.com profile] earthstar_moon and Mike (aka [livejournal.com profile] gigabahamut666 did it as well.

1) Your very much favorite song ever:
I have to pick just one? I have this little core of favorites that never fail to make me extremely happy. As Mike just told me, "People who make these don't realise there are those of us who obssess over music and it's not as simple as just "favourite song."

But, I think the honor here goes to "Give a Reason" by Megumi Hayashibara, the opening to Slayers Next. The first time I heard this song was magical, and I always let this song run when I'm watching the DVDs. If it's a clear sunny day, like right now, I'll roll down the windows in the car and blast this song.

2) A song that makes you incredibly happy (or at least makes you smile like an idiot):

I could easily go with a few songs, but I'm going with The Beatles "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," which is very happy and never fails to get me to grin like an idiot.

3) A song that makes you melancholic or sad:
Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" is hard for me to listen to. I'd heard the song off and on growing up, but its message hit home when it was played when Tessa died in Highlander: The TV Series. It took me awhile not to hear the lyrics and cry like a baby. Even now, I flip the radio dial when that song comes on.

4) A song that you listen while you're mad or enraged:
Language warning for this song. "F**k you" by Lily Allen. It's just perfect.

5) A song that reminds you of someone:
I've always felt that this was a good song that reminds me about the the type of characters I like to write about. So, this is to all the strong women in both fiction and real life, including myself. We all rock.

6) The song that you want as your requiem in your funeral:
I'm with Jo. I really don't want to think about my funeral.

7) A song that makes you laugh:
"Weird Al" Yankovic's "Jerry Springer." But, you need the context that makes me laugh. So, presenting one of the first AMVs that I ever saw: "Senshi on Springer." If you're a Sailor Moon fan and haven't seen it yet … then why aren't you watching this yet?

8) A song you would dedicate to someone you love:
When I originally heard Billy Joel's "You're My Home," it was a song I associated with Lina and Gourry. But, as 2007 gradually passed and I realized I was falling in love with the Scouser across the pond, I realized that it described how I felt about Mike. No matter where I roam, he is my home, and I'll always come back and feel at peace with him.

9) A song you would dedicate to someone who dump you:
This is not just for my ex-boyfriend, but also for my former bosses at the Arizona Daily Star: Elton John's "I'm Still Standing."

10) A song you can't help but SING YOUR LUNGS OUT to every time you listen:
There's a lot of them, and actually I'd put "Give a Reason" here except I've already listed it. But I find myself singing every time Neil Hannon's "Song for 10" from the original Doctor Who OST every time it comes up on the playlist. Even the part that alludes to "Doomsday" is set in an upbeat manner despite the sad content.
