Two pictures and a confession

Back at the end of last year, I did the 10-day meme that was pretty popular back then. I stopped with just two days to go, because I was saving the pictures and confession for later this summer. Well, I posted a picture of my new haircut to Facebook, but everyone else noticed something different about me beyond the hair. So since I outed myself ...

I've been doing Weight Watchers since December in preparation of having podlings occupy my body, in addition to better health. I started at 227 lbs and as of this past Tuesday, I am at 209. I've lost nearly 10 percent of my body weight in that time. It's been very slow and steady, but it's been good. It's not the first time I've lost weight -- I was in the 180s in late 2006/early 2007 -- but it feels like that this is the time it's sticking. I joined a gym in January and have alternated between going there regularly and walking in my neighborhood as it's gotten warmer.
The awesome thing is that I'm still able to eat what I want, just in moderation. Mike was also motivated and has joined me in exercising, and we keep track of each other through Runkeeper. I look and feel good, and have dropped from a size 18 to a size 16 so far, though I don't think it'll be long until I'm in a size 14.
I didn't say anything when I started because I was terrified if I failed that I'd didn't want to admit it. But, I haven't failed. I'm glad I've been taking this slow. One college friend is doing this bariatrics diet that's caused her to lose nearly 40 pounds in roughly two months. Ack, way too fast!
