Title: We'll keep on dreaming as long as we can
Word Count: 4,619
Characters: Eleven/River, Amy/Rory, Brian, Vastra/Jenny, Strax
Rating: G
Spoilers: This fic takes place between "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" and "A Town Called Mercy" for the Doctor, River, Amy, Rory, and Brian. For Vastra, Jenny, and Strax, it's a year before "The Snowmen," and they have already seen a post-TATM Doctor. I'm also hand-waving "The Power of Three"/"P.S." and have Brian knowing about River in this fic.

Summary: “How would you like to help me plan the wedding of a Silurian who was awaken by the expansion of the London Underground and a match girl who became her maid?”

We'll keep on dreaming as long as we can

Title: And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt
Word Count: 1,731
Characters: Eleven/River
Rating: G
Spoilers: This happened to coincide with the BBC's advent calendar releasing a cute story of the Doctor and Harry Houdini. In the second part of the story, the Doctor ripped open his shirt to reveal ... what you'll see below!

Summary: It took a couple hundred years before either of them could begin to discuss Lake Silencio with anything other than extreme guilt, dour looks, and River excusing herself to vent her emotions on a gun range. It was in both of their natures to handle the hardships of their lives with levity, but even this seemed to be crossing a line.

The Moment

savvyliterate: (Bunneh: Write me!)
Word Count: 1,419
Characters: Eighth Doctor, The Scholar
Rating: G
Spoilers: Set at the end of the Last Great Time War. Contains a quote from Babylon 5.

Summary: The Scholar. It was a Time Lord-like name, and it was a story that he had heard for years, ever since Romana had told it to him four regenerations earlier. The Scholar who guarded the Fount of Knowledge, who was in possession of The Moment, and who refused to surrender it until the anointed time to the destined wielder who had played eight movements of his symphony. It was one of many stories contained in the halls of the Citadel, and it was the one that Romana had turned to during this final, desperate time.

Rating: T (for now, might rise)
Word Count: 3,503 (chapter)/16,198 (story)
Characters/Pairing: Doctor/River, Brian
Spoilers: If you haven’t seen “The Angels Take Manhattan,” you’d be pretty lost and very spoiled. The person the Doctor and River discuss in this chapter briefly is Friedrich Eisenlohr, an influential cuckoo-clock maker.

Summary: Their marriage was be twisty and turny. There were times when they were fully in sync and others when they were scrambling to hide their hurt because of their mismatched timelines. Two lost souls making their way through the universe together. It was marriage, and it was theirs. Like her parents, they would choose each other. Every time. They would make it work.

Chapter 5

Sorry it took so long to post this chapter. I wound up heavily revising it, then going back and revising part of chapter 4 as well.

Word Count: 1,776
Characters: Doctor/River, Amy/Rory

Summary: Here he was. Sentenced to Trial by Congress — forced to either have sexual intercourse with a stranger or be castrated because he happened to get the unlucky father with a bent for violence punishment. Then there was facing River, and that would be worse.

Spoilers: Spoilers for "The Angels Take Manhattan," theorizing who a fictional character might be.

Summary: ”They’re not running all the time. Eventually, Melody pulls Jamie into her room so they can discuss strategy. Except there’s all that adrenaline, and it needs to go somewhere.” River reads a book to the Doctor.

Rating: T
Word Count: 2,074
Pairings: Doctor/River, Amy/Rory
Spoilers: Takes place during the seven weeks the Doctor had Amy and Rory on their anniversary trip in "The Power of Three." It has mentions of a theory in "The Angels Take Manhattan."

Summary: "Surely you’ve figured it out by now, sweetie. My parents have segmented their lives into two parts: real life and Doctor life. I became part of Doctor life when they realized that Melody would never come back to them as a baby."

Word Count: 2,972
Rating: T
Pairings: Doctor/River, Amy/Rory
Notes: This story has spoilers for “A Town Called Mercy” and a theory about “Angels Take Manhattan.” If you’re wondering where this is in “Mercy,” the fic takes place just after the Doctor speaks with Kahler Jex in the marshal’s office during the night. It also refers to "I can see the perfect sky is torn."

Summary: Maybe it was the comments Kahler Jex said about her being a mother. Maybe it was seeing the Doctor get so dark that Amy worried she wouldn’t be able to pull him back. But Amy wanted to see her daughter so very much, and she had just enough time to make that happen.

One (1/1)

savvyliterate: (Doctor/River: Hello)
Rating: T
Characters: Amy, Rory, River, the Doctor and Oswin (see note)
Word Count: 5,333
Note: This contains major spoilers for “Asylum of the Daleks.” As for Oswin, we’re still not sure if the Oswin introduced at Christmas is some earlier version of Oswin Oswald or an ancestor named Clara Oswin. So, I’m hitting middle ground and having the Doctor and River just address her as Oswin, covering first or last name.

Summary: This was something River Song couldn’t change. She and the Doctor had researched and, cajoled specialists and did everything they could to change Amy and Rory’s future. But to do so, it meant they would have to go so far back into Amy’s timeline that it most likely would affect River’s existence. They would always just have one daughter.

"One"
savvyliterate: (Doctor/River: Stormcage kiss)
Rating: M
Word Count: 3,354 (chapter), 15,777 (story so far)
Characters: Doctor/River, original characters
Notes: Certain dialogue at the end is transcribed from the prequel to "Let's Kill Hitler."

Summary: Oh, but it all made sense now. River Song was Melody Pond, and Melody Pond was River Song. And River couldn’t tell them that she was Melody because with one single misstep, she could have easily wiped herself out of existence. That, the Doctor knew, would be a very bad thing - a story of the three months between "A Good Man Goes to War" and "Let's Kill Hitler."

"Chapter 4"
savvyliterate: (Doctor/River: Hello)
Continuing with our adventures in a merry Pond life ... these short stories have been excellent writing practice this week since Namesake was just not happening for obvious reasons.

Story #4: Defense — It was Rory's job to defend his daughter no matter what -- even if it was from her husband.

The below stories are all epilogues to the Pond Life episodes that the BBC streamed this week. If you haven't seen them, you will be spoiled. Likewise, story #4 contains a spoiler for "Angels Take Manhattan," episode 5 of series 7. You might want to avoid that one if you've seen Pond Life but trying to remain spoiler-free for the main series.

savvyliterate: (Doctor/River: Hello)
I’d been wanting to do a series of Pond family oriented short stories for awhile. With the BBC running “Pond Life” leading up to the series 7 premiere, I figured it was a good time to finally gather these stories together and post them. This is an ongoing collection of vignettes. Kudos to anyone who gets the summary!

Summary: In a terraced home on a quiet street in Leadworth, behind a door of the bluest blue, Amy Pond and Rory Williams had a little family that no one knew about. It was somewhat broken, but it was still a very good family.

Story #1: Midnight Snack — Amy and Rory want to sleep. Their daughter and son-in-law think sleeping is highly overrated.

Story #2: Homecoming — “River, take them all home,” the Doctor ordered as he swept into the TARDIS to find another version of the woman who’d revealed herself to be Melody Pond. Too bad, River thought, he didn’t mention what to do next.

Story #3: 50 Shades of Something — “I was off to play a round golf with Jack Nicklaus. Ran into River while I was picking out my lucky putter. She said she was coming here to read a book with you,” the Doctor chirped as he all but bounced into Amy and Rory’s living room. He clapped his hands. “I love a good book reading!”
savvyliterate: (Doctor/River: Stormcage kiss)
Rating: M
Word Count: 4,403
Characters: Doctor/River, original characters
Notes: This story came about as a desire to tell the story of the Doctor properly falling in love with River, which you can see starting at the end of "A Good Man Goes to War" and culminating with his fierce drive to protect her in "Let's Kill Hitler." Something happened between those two in the 3-month gap for the Ponds. It was also spawned by seeing gorgeous pictures on Tumblr of cities created out of trees and the tale of Jim the Fish that's in the diary excerpts of "The Eternity Clock." When I saw the tree cities, I knew that there was a story that needed to be told.
