I'll be starting to dispense out some Christmas gift fics that I've written over the next day or so. This one is for [livejournal.com profile] fenikkusuken and is set in her "Time Lapse" universe.

Title: The Bet
Pairings: Implied Inuyasha/Kagome, but not referred to much.
Rating: PG-13 for a very good reason.
Disclaimer: Inuyasha does not belong to me, but to Rumiko Takahashi. I'm just borrowing her characters for awhile. Fenikkusuken is property of [livejournal.com profile] fenikkusuken and is an original character from her wonderful series "The Phoenix Blade: Time Lapse." All IY fans should give it a try.
Notes: This takes place after chapter 58 in TPB.

Nixie. Nixie!

Kagome startled, Scotch tape stuck to her hands as she hurried to finish wrapping the last of her gifts before Kogashu arrived to take her to the academy to exchange gifts. Inuyasha was back on the other side of the well, loaded down with enough sweets to keep Shippou bugging him for the next few hours. She did not want to risk a confrontation between him and the modern form of Kouga.

Nixie, don't you ignore me. I want to get this over with.

I'm rather busy here at the moment, Fenik. Can't this wait?

... Not particularly.

He's just embarrassed, Phoenix. He wants to give you a little Christmas present.

...

Come on, Fenik, you're so shy.

It's your fault I'm in this mess to begin with, Riko.

Kagome set the wrapped present for Rin aside and lifted an eyebrow, curiosity starting to get the best of her.

Will him into existence, Phoenix, in his two-legged form like when you last sparred. I'll handle the rest.

A little apprehensively, Kagome closed her eyes and thought of Fenik from the last time she had seen him, when they had sparred under the moonlight. It hadn't been as hard as the last time, but she frowned. Something is definitely off here...

Open your eyes, Phoenix. Midoriko's voice sounded almost too cheerful.

Kagome did as instructed, then immediately went red. A mixture of lust and embarrassment shot through her as she stared at Fenik. Black and silver hair cascaded down his back, rippling around a muscular chest that rivaled Inuyasha's. His hair stopped inches above a scandalously small pair of white briefs adorned with green and red Christmas lights.

It was the only thing that he wore.

Kagome's jaw fell. She wanted to look away. No, she should look away. But she was human, right? No normal, human...okay, no normal female period would be able to turn away from a sight like that.

Red stained Fenik's cheeks as well and he crossed his arms over his bare chest. Okay, I fulfilled my end of the bargain. I'm going back now.

Oh, come on, Fenik. I'm getting a good look as well. It's apparent that Kagome appreciates it. I bet if we wait a few minutes, her mother will also join the admiring crowd and...

No!

Kagome blinked at Fenik's sudden shout and instantly he was gone. She shook her head to clear it. Did I just...No, of course not. Fenik appearing in just a pair of Christmas briefs in my house. Hahaha, Kagome, you're under too much stress again.

It wasn't a figment of your imagination.
Midoriko sounded even more amused than she had a few minutes earlier. It was your Christmas present from me and Fenik.

Hell, that was never my choice of a present!

That's only because you're quite dreadful at playing poker.

Kagome startled. Poker?

Oh yes, Phoenix. Fenik lost a game of Texas Hold 'Em to me a few minutes before you summoned him. The terms of the bet was that if the other wins, we would have to carry out a desire of the winner. Considering that I've always wanted to see Fenik in those briefs...

Kagome grinned cheekily and wondered what Fenik's payback would be.

Believe me, Nix, if I ever beat her, I'll be sure to let you know.

Kagome silently crowed and wasn't surprised to find Midoriko laughing along with her.
