Insert witty post title here. Maybe.
So, Gadhafi was just killed. There goes my work day. *downs juice*
I actually a really nice two days off this week. I'd initially planned to run away to New York City yesterday, but I kind of derailed that on my own. I met
sinnerforhire for lunch Tuesday and we wound up spending nearly four hours together talking. It was really awesome. I stopped by Kohl's afterward to get new socks and walked out $150 poorer. Don't get me wrong, I did need the clothes. I needed a few more winter things, and I actually still wouldn't mind getting a nice coat that's not as long as my wool trenchcoat. But, I felt bad spending the money. I needed the socks and underwear, and I tend to splurge on those because they last longer. And, I wound up getting this awesome black sweater dress that looks pretty good on me. I also ran over to one good woman earlier and grabbed more tea so I can have some fruit iced tea to go along with juice. Lessens the desire for any soda.
As a result though, it didn't seem prudent to spend another $100 in gas and inevitable trip to Kinokuniya/Book-Off running away to NYC for the day, so I stayed home. It turned out with the yucky weather to be the best move, and I was feeling pretty crappy anyhow no thanks to that time of month. I actually got a lot of writing done, which surprised me. I did several more articles for TUAW and made the arrangement to review a children's interactive book app and the matching iPad leather case. Isa and I met for about three hours via Skype last night, and I turned over more sentences to her and we finished sketching out scenes we'd like to do for the rest of chapter 7. We also talked about a non-Namesake project, and I'm really excited on that front. I'm hoping we'll get a chance to formally announce what we're doing soon.
I also wrote more fic. And, for the second time, I managed to combine Slayers and Doctor Who in a plausible story. *pumps fist* In this week's list of plotbunnies gone rampant, we have:
Doctor Who/Slayers crossover
Two women on the edge of a disintegrating universe
Doctor Who
The Stormcage's Real Warden
A Merry Chase: Prologue | Chapter 1
If you're lost, you can look, and you will find me
A week from today is Mike's medical appointment in London, and three weeks from today is the visa interview. We're starting to get into the "excited, but completely terrified" part of this whole thing. It's like when we got married. We weren't afraid of the marriage itself, but buggering up the steps on our way there. One of my fondest memories of our wedding day is that Mike and I wound up sitting on the couch at 6 a.m., about seven hours before the ceremony, clinging to each other's hands, excited and terrified all at once. I'm trying really hard not to buy the plane ticket right now, even though I want to. We're cutting it close on prices by waiting the additional three weeks, but I don't want to accidentally jinx us.
I find that Tumblr is sucking away at my soul a bit, but I don't particularly mind at the moment. I call Tumblr the place where I can be an unashamed fangirl, and boy does it show. OK, I make no apologies about being one on LJ as well, but it's still a slightly different flavor of unashamed fangirl.
