I'd planned to wait until after Christmas to get a Nintendo 3DS, especially since the price dropped to a more manageable level, but Mike linked me to where Wal-Mart had already rolled back the prices to $169.99 before the official release Friday. If you get a 3DS and log onto its store before midnight Thursday, you're enrolled in the Ambassador program where you get 20 free virtual console games. "If you're going to get it, you might as well get it now and get the free games," he told me.
However, because I wanted to keep the cash in our account reserved for Mike's final immigrant visa bill (which still hasn't arrived yet) and I do my best to shop at Wal-Mart as little as possible, I wound up ordering through used through Amazon's Warehouse Deals (which is what I believe you did,
ichiban_victory). We joined Amazon Prime a few weeks back after Borders liquidation sales started. I totaled up the amount we'd use Amazon for video games and books -- as well as it being the best way to do remote Christmas shopping -- and realized we'd save money by doing that instead of joining Barnes & Noble's discount program. The Warehouse Deals site gets good reviews, so I did that instead. I also grabbed a copy of Ocarina of Time as well. Water dungeon, after nine years, you're going down.
Yes, I have never beaten Ocarina of Time. I managed to get through a good chunk of the game by borrowing my then-boyfriend's copy in college, but the water dungeon tricked me up and I was never able to get through it before having to give the game/system back when I moved to Selma that summer.
I stopped by Comix Connection, my favorite (and the closest) of the local comic book stores after getting the annual inspection done on the car. I picked up the Avatar: The Last Airbender lost adventures graphic novel, the second volume of Little Adventures in Oz (
secondlina has the hardcover version of both volumes, and it's much love, but wicked expensive) and the first issue of the Mystic reboot, which looked pretty interesting. It was billed as a cross between Mean Girls and Les Miserablés. They also had two volumes of Marvel's issue of Skydoll, which will be a future purchase I promise, Isa and
earthstar_moon.
pip25 is being awesome and is helping me finish the Slayers fanbook. We worked back and forth on it, and he did the hard work in making sure there was a credit for every name. While he did that, I worked on creating the section title pages and shuffling in a few final pieces. My hope is to get one more proof submitted to the community tonight, then hand it off to the printer by this weekend.
