Two months isn't that long, right?
Look at what I just bought! I've always loved this fanart. I'm so glad it got turned into a shirt.
Really, I don't have a lot of shirts that are suitable for my days off of work. My go-to for years has always been my old Million Dollar Band shirts. But now they're 10-13 years old, and you can really tell. It looks like it's time to pack them away before they fall apart completely. So, I'm slowly starting to acquire some casual shirts and the like.
They came in and fixed the floors in my apartment today, and I received the official verdict that my downstairs neighbors are pretty nuts. I had a long talk with my landlady when I paid the rent a couple weeks ago, and she said she thinks the neighbors are going to move out when their lease is up in July. She had offered them a different apartment in the complex, but they turned it down.
*cue cheers and confetti*
But, I think they threw stuff at the ceiling Monday night when I was walking around the bedroom trying to put sheets on the bed before I got into it. I'd done laundry throughout the evening and the sheets were the last thing. I figured they complained to the landlady again because maintenance was in here today looking at the floors. It was very interesting. I essentially repeated my normal walking routine for them, which included walking between the living room and kitchen, then back through the bedrooms, around my bedroom like I was making my bed, then into and out of the bathroom. The man followed me and tested several spots and fixed the two worse squeaky areas outside the kitchen and my bedroom. He told me that everything else was normal and that my walking was fine.
*hears doors slam so hard that the entire apartment vibrates* Oh, yay, the neighbors just got home!
You know, I realize there's worse neighbors on the planet. There's potheads and partiers and more. But something about these folks feels a bit extra grating because they don't try to be understanding that I'm simply on a different work schedule than them. I do my best not to make any extra noise at night -- as Isa and Joanne will attest to because I'll be really quiet on Skype at times -- and I do try to restrict my movements. I understand folks are very light sleepers, as
ichiban_victory is. But, it's an apartment. If you can't live with the sounds of other people living around you, then buy a house as
scribe_ari says.
I really hope they're gone before Mike gets here ... for a few obvious reasons!
Oh. Oh! Because of the entire bin Laden deal, I forgot to shout this to the world a couple weeks ago ... MIKE SUBMITTED HIS THESIS!! *cues more confetti* He has his viva voce on June 21. We're almost finished, people!
( In which I challenge Mike to an epic pillowfight after Karnerblue's suggestion ... )
