Mama and Ronnie head back to Alabama today. I hope they don't have any issues, but as long as they remember to gas up before driving through north Alabama, they should be fine. They're planning to do it all in one day, but I hope they stop by here in the morning.

While I loved their visit, it's wrecked havoc on my diet. I probably gained five pounds in all that we've done this week. Thankfully, I get back on the eating/exercise regime today, so it should come off fairly quickly. I also need to sort out what they brought me, which includes the rest of my childhood keepsakes and baby clothes. Most of my baby/toddler clothes were made by my grandmother, and those are what I have now. Mama also gave me the stuff from when she was a baby in the 1950s, which is really neat. I also have a bag of crocheted stuffed animals that Grandma made me that should find a home in here somewhere.
Then there's the books. Two boxes filled with old books that aren't even printed any longer. Oh, and my original My Little Ponies! Yes, the ones from 1984-85. I'm definitely going to have to get the camera out and take pictures of all of this.

I'm hoping to get over to Reading today or tomorrow to attend the Comic Geek Speak Super Show to research how to market Namesake at cons. Our readership is growing with every new comic, and it's also a vocal readership which I do love. I've expressed my concern to Isa about how we're going to handle some of the cons because I'm no artist. I handle the scripts, scenario, the website and all that. So, how do you draw people to a con booth when you're not an artist? Isa and I can't attend every con together, it's just not possible because we live so far apart. We'll have merchandise of course -- prints, eventually books, etc. -- but a lot of artists I know attract people to their tables by offering quick drawings, etc. "Come to Namesake! Get your 100-word drabble right here! Stick-figure rendering of Jack thrown in!" I'm also hoping to network with some other webcomic artists as well and get advice. And, just maybe, I'll buy Mike something. If I'm a good wife.

While I didn't get up at 6 a.m., I did wind up catching a replay of the royal wedding. After everything that's happened, it was nice to see something positive. Kate's dress was gorgeous. It's something I would wear and actually wish I'd seen when I was shopping for a wedding dress myself. She and William actually look and act like they're in love, unlike Charles and Diana. The former looked like he was being thrown into a viper pit and the latter shell-shocked. Kate and William shared looks and such that speak of real intimacy, and I think they're going to have a happy marriage.

... but growing up, no one ever believed me. I'm indeed a Southern girl, but I don't have the heavy drawl that a good many Southern folks have. I was often accused of being from the North when I was a teenager. However, my drawl does come out -- mainly when I'm talking on the phone with my father.

What American accent do you have?

Southern. Love it or hate it, your accent says you're probably from somewhere south of the Ohio River.

If you're not from the South, you probably were overanalyzing the questions. Take the quiz again but don't think so hard next time.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?
