GUH.
After officially losing 20 pounds (down 20.4 *boogies*) and picking up Tangled (sans Pascal plush since they ran out), I headed to Barnes and Noble before dinner with
tiegirl and her brother. I hunted down Sweet Valley Confidential, read the epilogue and decided that I'll eventually borrow a copy to read. Yes, I'm weird. Then I hunted down Land of Painted Caves, read the first two pages and wanted to lob the book into the Nook display behind me. I know, what did those poor Nooks ever do to me?
No, seriously. I haven't read the series since book 5 disappointed me eight years ago. It only took two pages. Two! Here. Just read this paragraph:
And, right under that was a huge Mary Sue reminder that's a spoiler, so I won't mention it ... but still ...guh.
Actually, the rest of what I read isn't so bad, but I already see that I will take parts of the book with a very large grain of salt. Besides, I do want to see how the saga ends. However, to prevent throwing it against the wall, I've gotten the ebook for now and will get the hardcover to complete my set later.
But, first, I shall bask in the accomplishment of having a clean kitchen.

Ayla, too, had extraordinarily sharp vision. She could also pick up sounds above the range of normal hearing and feel the deep tones of those that were below. Her sense of smell and taste were also keen, but she had never compared herself with anyone, and didn't realize how extraordinary her perceptions were. She was born with heightened acuity in all of her senses, which no doubt contributed to her survival after losing her parents and everything she knew at five years. Her only training had come from herself. She had developed her natural abilities during the years she studied animals, chiefly carnivores, when she was teaching herself to hunt.
And, right under that was a huge Mary Sue reminder that's a spoiler, so I won't mention it ... but still ...guh.
