Computer cases and castles
I finally got about 10-11 hours of sleep last night. I haven't slept well the past few days, partly because I've been busy with projects, and the other because subconsciously I've been worried about the visa process. As part of the research I did whether or not to go with a K3 visa or full permanent resident (IR-1/CR-1) visa for Mike, I came across VisaJourney.com and read a lot of the forums. It struck me just how long this is going to take, so I've wrestled with guilt for not doing it sooner. It's pretty much the same amount of time as a pregnancy when all is said and done. I finally talked with Mike about it, and I no longer feel quite so bad about it.
I treated myself some of the best alfredo I've ever had, got in a workout, then promptly slept for about 10 hours while my body protested at the exercise treatment. I tried out one of those Cybex arc trainers, but quickly moved back to an elliptical. I didn't work out as long, but I increased the intensity to try and get my mile time down a bit.
I was finally able to put in an order for a new bag and case for the laptop. I went with the Tom Bihn Synapse in this lovely shade of dark green. It's a small daypack and still looks professional, which suits me just fine. I'll be able to carry my exercise clothes, lunch and laptop all in one bag, which will decrease the number of bags I carry around with me. I had gone back to messenger-style for awhile, but overall like backpacks better. I also got a Cache as the case for ChibiBunneh. You can't hardly find a case for an 11-inch MacBook Air outside of digging online.
I got the first disc of Castle on Monday and watched the first two episodes. It's pretty cute thus far. It feels like the creators decided to cross the In Death books with Bones, so I'm looking forward to seeing this series come into its own, stay with the hook of Castle tagging with Beckett and not be such a clone of other stuff. Kate Beckett is very much an Eve Dallas-type character. Castle's entire family is just utter love. If anything, Castle proves that that In Death books would make a fantastic TV series. I put on the second two episodes so I can get the disc back in today's mail.
And congratulations to
raventhourne and
posadnik_ivan on the birth of their first child! It's a little boy named Benton, and from the pictures posted to Twitter already, he is utterly adorable. Oh, babies are such happy news.
