Incompetence!

Incompetence! Sheer incompetence!!!

I went to look over my list of stories for Sunday's paper and found one on a major drug bust that took place here. Cool, I thought, something good to work with for the front. I began to read the story.

It took place 10 days ago.

::FUME::

Tracie (yes, the infamous Tracie who stayed with me when she first came to work at the paper and used my toothbrush and broke the showerhead) is now our cops reporter. She comes waddling over to me and goes, "Hey, Megan, there's a story in there about a drug bust."

::FUME:: "I saw that, Tracie. Why didn't you know about it 10 days ago?"

"Because they just gave me the press release."

"You shouldn't have to wait for a press release."

"Well, I ask them about stuff all the time and they didn't say anything."

"That's because they won't!"

I let the subject go and just kept fuming. Tracie NEVER listens to the police scanner. She assumes that she is going to get the stuff on the hardest beat on this newspaper through police reports and press releases. I can't BELIEVE the amount of incompetence!!! She's the reason why a shooting that took place OUTSIDE the newspaper office didn't get in the paper until three days later! She has no gumption, no ambition, no.....AAARRRUUUGGGGHHHH!!!

What I wouldn't give for a fellow journalist to vent to right now. ::sigh::
