Title: Not for Burning
Written for:
pharoah999
Fandom/Characters: Slayers, Lina/Gourry - "mistletoe"
Rating: K
Word Count: 240
Spoilers: If you're familiar with the Slayers cast, you're good. Early Slayers NEXT for a time period though.
As they shivered over a dying fire, Gourry decided to head into the woods to get some fuel.
"Just hurry," Lina begged, scooting closer to Amelia for warmth.
Really, Gourry thought as he poked through the underbrush, Lina could use her fire spells to keep them warm. He wasn't sure why she didn't do it, it was a logical use of her magic. Oh, she'd tried to explain it to him before, but he didn't really get the gist of it. She could do it, he decided. She just didn't want to. That was Lina, though. So, it was his job to keep her warm.
He found some plants attached to shrubs and heaped them into his arms. They were good for burning. Whistling under his breath, he also managed to catch a rabbit. Fuel and dinner. Lina would be pleased.
And she was.
"Good for you, Gourry!" Lina cheered as Gourry handed the rabbit to Zelgadiss to clean and began stoking the fire.
But Amelia wasn't.
"Gourry-san!" Amelia cried. "You can't burn that!"
"Why not?" Lina demanded. "Keep building that fire, Gourry!"
Amelia grabbed Lina's arm. "Because it's mistletoe!"
"So?"
"So!" She gesticulated toward Gourry. "You kiss under it! Not burn it!"
Lina's head swiveled toward Gourry's.
He blinked.
She blushed.
"Burn it," Lina ordered, yanked her arm away, and stomped off until the interesting images Amelia planted in her brain of Gourry, mistletoe and herself could be eradicated.
